A Student's Account of Four Weeks in Kandy

Arriving in Kandy after a long flight, the first thing that struck me was not the hospital, it was the hills. The campus sits in genuinely beautiful surroundings, which made the early adjustment to ward routines a little easier.

The first week was mostly observation: learning how rounds are run, getting used to a different pace of handover, and figuring out where everything is. By the second week I was scrubbing in regularly, and the consultants were generous with their time.

What stayed with me most was not a specific procedure, but the volume and variety of presentations I saw on a weekly basis. That alone made the elective worth the trip.
